The Clarke County Health Department — part of the Virginia Department of Health — is within the Lord Fairfax Health District, which serves the Northern Shenandoah Valley. The Health Department administers clinical services, environmental health services, and Woman Infants and Children’s Program (WIC).

Clinical services include adult and childhood immunizations, Tuberculosis screenings, sexually transmitted infection testing, and rabies pre-exposure/titers for high-risk patients are available on a walk-in basis. Walk-in clinic hours are Monday and Tuesday from 8 to 11:15 a.m. and 1 to 3:15 p.m.
Make an appointment during Wednesday clinic hours for family planning, travel vaccination services, and school/sports physicals.

Environmental Health Services
The Health Department is responsible for permitting and inspecting food and lodging facilities in Clarke County, including all restaurants, bed-and-breakfast businesses, campgrounds, senior living facilities, and event food vendors. Contact the office for information prior to opening a new facility or becoming a food vendor at a local event.

Women, Infants &Children’s Program (WIC)
The Women, Infants & Children program (WIC), funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, is administered by the local health department. Applicants must meet categorical, residential, income, and nutrition risk requirements to be eligible for the WIC program.
